Preliminary studies of the time-dependent shear and uniaxial tensile behaviour of oriented polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Summary The work reported in this memo is the initial stages of an investigation of the time-dependent behaviour of certain anisotropic polymers. In the first instance low density polyethylene with a transversely isotropic symmetry is being examined.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Weakly Contractive Mapping and Weakly Kannan Mapping in Partial Metric Space

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Dasar, 2019
In the article the concept of metric space could be expanded, one of which is a partial metric space. In the metric space, the distance of a point to itself is equal to zero, while in the partial metric space need not be equal to zero. The concept of ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Affecting the Properties of Copper–Graphene Electroconductive Composite by Severe Plastic Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper‐based composites enhanced with carbon feature convenient mechanical properties and favorable electric conductivity. Processing via deformation and thermomechanical treatments can introduce advantageous microstructures further enhancing their performance. Herein, copper–graphene powder‐based composites are directly consolidated via rotary swaging

Regularization and error estimates for nonhomogeneous backward heat problems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2006
In this article, we study the inverse time problem for the non-homogeneous heat equation which is a severely ill-posed problem. We regularize this problem using the quasi-reversibility method and then obtain error estimates on the approximate ...

Rectangular cone b-metric spaces over Banach algebra and contraction principle

open access: yesFixed Point Theory and Applications, 2017
Rectangular cone b-metric spaces over a Banach algebra are introduced as a generalization of metric space and many of its generalizations. Some fixed point theorems are proved in this space and proper examples are provided to establish the validity and ...

New Fixed Point Theorems for θ‐ϕ-Contraction on Rectangular b-Metric Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2020
The Banach contraction principle is the most celebrated fixed point theorem and has been generalized in various directions. In this paper, inspired by the concept of θ‐ϕ-contraction in metric spaces, introduced by Zheng et al., we present the notion of θ‐

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...
