Mappings Related to Contractions

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1975
Some results generalizing a fixed point theorem due to R. Kannan are presented.0. Let be a family of self-mappings of a metric space (X, d).

Periodic Points and Contractive Mappings

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1974
Let X be a non-empty set and f:X→X. A point x ∈ X is (i) a fixed point off f(x)=x, and (ii) a periodic point of f iff there is a positive integer N such that fN(x)=x. Also a periodic orbit of f is the (finite) set {x, f(x), f2(x),…} where x is a periodic point of f.

Auto-contractive Maps

2018
This chapter focuses on Auto-Contractive Maps, which is a particularly useful ANN. Moreover, the relationship between Auto-Contractive Map (Auto-CM), which is the main topic of this monograph, its relationship to other ANNs and some illustrative example applications are presented.

Contraction Mapping Calibration

2005
In this paper a new calibration scheme for recovering Euclidian camera parameters from their affine of projective primitives is presented. It is based on a contraction mapping implying that the obtained solution is unique, i.e. no local minimas threaten to yield a non-optimal solution.

Generalized Θ-contractive fuzzy mappings

Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2018
The aim of this paper is to obtain some common α -fuzzy fixed point theorems under generalized Θ-contraction in the setting of complete metric space. In this way, we generalize various results of literature including the main result of Hancer et al. (Fixed Point Theory, 18 (2017), 229-236).

A Remark on Contractive Mappings

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1970
Much current research is concerned with the fixed points of contractive mappings (mappings which shrink distance in some manner) from a metric space into itself. In this remark we shall point out that most mappings treated in the literature are very special in the sense that all these mappings satisfy a condition which is rather severe: every periodic ...

Some Remarks Concerning Contraction Mappings

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1971
The following result is proved in [1, p. 6].Theorem 1. Let X be a complete metric space, and let T and Tn(n = 1, 2,…)be contraction mappings of X into itself with the same Lipschitz constant k<1, and with fixed points u and un respectively. Suppose that limn → ∞ Tn(x) = T(x) for every x ∊ X. Then limn → ∞ un = u.
