Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography in Odontogenic Space Infections: A Cross-Sectional Study with the Development of a Structured Reporting Framework

open access: yesJournal of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology
Background: Odontogenic space infections tend to spread through fascial spaces of head and neck, resulting in potentially life-threatening complications. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) is widely used for evaluating these infections; however,

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...

A comparative study of contrast-enhanced ultrasound and contrast-enhanced computed tomography in diagnosis of cystic renal carcinoma

open access: yes肿瘤影像学, 2018
Objective: To assess the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in evaluating cystic renal carcinoma compared with contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT). Methods: The imaging data of 102 cystic renal carcinoma patients from July 2005 to

Contrast Enhanced Computed Tomography and Diagnostic Laparoscopy in Management of Patients with Penetrating Abdominal Trauma [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Azhar International Medical Journal
Background: The approach to the management of penetrating abdominal trauma (PAT) evolved from mandatory exploratory laparotomy to "selective conservatism." Aim of the work: To establish the role of diagnostic laparoscopy (DL) and contrast-enhanced ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Pulmonary mediastinal actinomycosis with “pound cake sign” on magnetic resonance imaging mimicking an infiltrative malignant tumor: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Actinomycosis is a rare chronic suppurative granulomatous disease. Surgical biopsy is often performed in patients with chest actinomycosis because malignancy is suspected in most cases.

Assessment of ureteric diameter using contrast-enhanced helical abdominal computed tomography

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Urology, 2020
Background Assessment of ureteric size is imperative for diagnosis of urinary tract abnormalities especially with regard to obstructive pathologies. The ureteric opacification and distension obtained from contrast-enhanced computed tomography allows for ...
