Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Interpenetration of Rubber and Silane Coupling Agent on an Inorganic Substrate Revealed by Spin-Contrast-Variation Neutron Reflectivity

open access: yes
We elucidated the interpenetration of silane coupling agent (SCA) molecules bound to Si substrates and overcoated rubber using spin-contrast-variation (SCV) neutron reflectivity (NR), which determines the nanostructure of multilayer films from polarized ...

Contrast-Variation Time-Resolved Small-Angle Neutron Scattering Analysis of Oil-Exchange Kinetics Between Oil-in-Water Emulsions Stabilized by Anionic Surfactants

open access: yes, 2019
Contrast-variation time-resolved small-angle neutron scattering (CV-SANS) was used to examine oil-exchange kinetics between identical mixtures of hydrogenated/deuterated hexadecane emulsion systems.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Advanced design and experimental validation of MRI contrast agents for fluid pressure mapping using microbubbles

open access: yes, 2009
This work is related to monitoring fluid pressure using Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI and includes numerical simulations and experimental MRI. The nature of this study is such that techniques other than MRI have been extensively used to assess the ...

Contrastive Disentangled Variational Autoencoder for Collaborative Filtering

open access: yesIEEE Access
Recommender systems aim to accurately predict user preferences in order to provide potential items of interests. However, the highly skewed long-tail item distribution leads the models to more focus on popular items, which can damage the predictive performance by recommending specific items repeatedly.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Analysis of Polymer Colloids by Small Angle X Ray and Neutron Scattering Contrast Variation

open access: yes, 2011
We review recent work done on polymer colloids by small angle X ray scattering SAXS and small angle neutron scattering SANS . Special emphasis is laid on the variation of scattering contrast for both methods.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
