Vision assistance in scenes with extreme contrast

IEEE Micro, 1993
The performance and architecture of a high dynamic range camera (HDRC) chip and the conceptional advantages for its adaptation to image processing systems in traffic environments are discussed. The HDRC chip was developed with 64*64 pixels using a standard digital 1.2- mu m CMOS technology.

Contrasting Visions and Continuing Struggle

2020
This chapter addresses the European Community’s involvement in the creation of the European Science Foundation (ESF), an independent and nongovernmental European institution devoted to fundamental research, and another disappointment for the promoters of an EC-centric vision for European research collaboration.

Measurements of contrast sensitivity for peripheral vision

ACM Symposium on Applied Perception 2019, 2019
Contrast detection thresholds were measured for the eccentricities from 0° to 27° and a range of stimuli frequencies from 0.125cpd to 16cpd. The measurements were motivated by the need to collect visual performance data for the gaze-contingent rendering system.

Vision Evaluation Using Contrast Sensitivity Functions

Optometry and Vision Science, 1983
The use of Contrast Sensitivity Functions (CSF's) in vision evaluation has been explored for several years. Although theoretically superior to Snellen acuity and similar measures, the use of CSF is not widespread. A review of some of the clinical conditions in which CSF's have been used is followed by a discussion of the problems involved in their ...

Quantification of color vision with cone contrast sensitivity

Visual Neuroscience, 2004
Human color vision is based fundamentally on three separate cone photopigments. Hereditary color deficiency, which affects up to 10% of males, results from an absorption shift or lack of L or M cone phototoreceptors. While hereditary S cone deficiency is rare, decreased S cone sensitivity occurs early in eye disease, underscoring the importance of
