Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Impact of photovoltaic systems on voltage stability in islanded distribution networks

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This work analyses the impact of photovoltaic generation on voltage stability margin in an islanded microgrid. An indicator of voltage collapse proximity, based on the maximum deliverable power, is used to study the contribution of photovoltaic ...

Marginal fitness contributions of nonessential genes in yeast

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1998
Analysis of the complete genome sequence of Saccharomyces cerevisiae confirms and extends earlier evidence that a majority of yeast genes are not essential, at least under laboratory conditions. Many fail to yield a discernible mutant phenotype even when disrupted.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Unconfused Ultraconservative Multiclass Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We tackle the problem of learning linear classifiers from noisy datasets in a multiclass setting. The two-class version of this problem was studied a few years ago by, e.g. Bylander (1994) and Blum et al.

Contribution Separators Wide Margin Processing of Remote Sensing Data [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer and Electrical Engineering, 2010
, Abstract—One of the main goals of remote sensing is extracting meaningful information of the image. We are interested in one of the treatments used: segmentation. Thus, we tried to introduce the techniques of learning SVMs (separators Wide Margin) in the field of remote sensing.
