Self-tuning Fuzzy Control Method Based on the Trajectory Performance of the Phase Plane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The phase plane is already an important method to design fuzzy control systems and analyze their stability. The concept of the real-time response trajectory characteristic vectors and angles between the real-time characteristic vectors on the phase plane

Educing coherent eddy structures in air curtain systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The work reported here comes within a broader research program dealing with ambiance separation or confining by means of air curtains (plane air jets). The process is studied experimentally by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV).

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Controlling division planes

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 2005
![Graphic][1] When few RGCs are around, radial division (shown) can be converted to cirumferential. In mammals, cells that divide with their spindle axis parallel to the surface of the epithelial sheet produce symmetric daughters, whereas a spindle perpendicular to the sheet ...

Flexible distributed control plane deployment

open access: yesNOMS 2018 - 2018 IEEE/IFIP Network Operations and Management Symposium, 2018
For large-scale programmable networks, flexible deployment of distributed control planes is essential for service availability and performance. However, existing approaches only focus on placing controllers whereas the consequent control traffic is often ignored. In this paper, we propose a black-box optimization framework offering the additional steps

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
