On-Off Control With Periodic Sensing Device

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1958
Abstract The paper describes the effectiveness of PD-type control function for the on-off control system with a periodic sensing device. When the system is subject to steady random disturbance, provided that the disturbance is varying rather slowly compared to the time constant of the controlled plant, the properly chosen PD control ...

Dynamic-control problems with on/off cells [neurons]

Proceedings of the 38th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.99CH36304), 2003
In this paper, we study the dynamics of neurons and discuss how the neurons encode and decode both temporal and spatio-temporal signals. Dynamical properties (bifurcation, limit cycles, etc.) have been analyzed in an appropriate phase plane, whereas for the encoding and decoding scheme we have used a wavelet-based approach.

On-off limit-cycle controllers for reaction-jet-controlled systems

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1970
Analytical expressions have been obtained by Mendel [1] for performance cost functions that describe the behavior of a reaction-jet-controlled system during an on-off limit cycle. The cost functions are expressed in terms of the amplitudes of the limit-cycle switch states \theta_{s} and \dot{\theta}_{s} . No structure is assumed for u(t) in [1].
