Infection Control in Burns: Topical and Systemic

Infection accounts for nearly 50 per cent of the fatalities reported in burn patients. The use of topical antibacterial agents saw a rebirth following development of a better understanding of the pathology of the burn wound itself, and the current thrust of management relates to absorption of an antibacterial agent directly through the eschar.
