Consciousness and Control in Task Switching

Consciousness and Cognition, 2002
Participants were required to switch among randomly ordered tasks, and instructional cues were used to indicate which task to execute. In Experiments 1 and 2, the participants indicated their readiness for the task switch before they received the target stimulus; thus, each trial was associated with two primary dependent measures: (1) readiness time ...

Control of a MEMS optical switch

2004 43rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37601), 2004
An analysis is performed of a MEMS optical switch to determine a dynamical model containing electrical, mechanical, and optical components. The model is compared to experimental results and shows a good match, aside from the damping term which is difficult to analyze.

Control of switching nets

Biological Cybernetics, 1975
Switching nets have long been used as models of biological phenomena. In this paper, control properties of switching nets are discussed. Bounds on control parameters for general nets, linear nets and nets with linear inputs are obtained. In particular, bounds are obtained on the maximum distance between two states and on the length of input sequences ...

Controllability of quantum systems with switching control

International Journal of Control, 2010
This article focuses on wavefunction controllability of a class of quantum systems with switching control. First, we present a specific quantum system which is not wavefunction controllable under the action of any one of two controllers with different fixed structures.

On the Switching Control

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
The paper is discussing the measures able to reject the instability that may unexpectedly appear in particular conditions, in switching controllers applications. The switching controllers’ effect is explained by the combined effects of the unsuitable choice of the switching moments (in the first or third quadrants of the phase trajectory of the ...

Tetracycline-Controlled Genetic Switches

2007
Unlike recombinase-mediated gene manipulations, tetracycline (Tet)-controlled genetic switches permit reversible control of gene expression in the mouse. Trancriptional activation can be induced by activators termed tTA (Tet-Off) or rtTA (Tet-On) in the absence and presence of Tet, respectively. The Tet-Off and Tet-On systems are complementary, and the

Switch control

2022
To overcome the bandwidth bottleneck of electrical switches in data center networks (DCNs), switching the traffic in the optical domain has been much investigated as a future-proof solution supplying ultra-bandwidth. To date, many optical switch solutions have been investigated, exploiting various building blocks, such as 3D MEMS, LCoS display matrices,
