Controlled Placement of Individual Carbon Nanotubes

Nano Letters, 2005
A central challenge for both the science and the technology of carbon nanotubes is the controlled assembly of devices. Here, we report a technique that allows us to place a nanotube with the desired properties in a predetermined location by direct mechanical transfer. We demonstrate single-tube and multiple-tube transfer and electrical characterization

FEEDBACK SYNCHRONIZATION USING POLE-PLACEMENT CONTROL

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2000
Synchronization in chaotic systems has become an active area of research since the pioneering work of Pecora and Carroll. Most existing works, however, rely on a passive approach: A coupling between chaotic systems is necessary for their mutual synchronization.

Minimum Control Latency of SDN Controller Placement

2016 IEEE Trustcom/BigDataSE/ISPA, 2016
SDN is known as a decoupled architecture separatingthe control and data planes. The controller is in charge ofnetwork nodes through a southbound interface. However, it iscostly to impose all controllers to control each node separately. Meanwhile, the layout of controllers affects the network's abilityto respond to network events.

Actuator placement in structural control

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1992
Summary: The placement of force and torque actuators for structural control problems is considered. Objective functions are defined based on the elements of the actuator influence matrix, and optimization studies are conducted. The performance of the control is compared.

Sensor placement in structural control

Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference, 1988
Issues associated with the placement of sensors in structural control and reliability systems are analyzed. The sensor output is used to extract modal coordinates. Optimization procedures are used to determine the most desirable locations of the operational sensors.

Revisiting the controller placement problem

2015 IEEE 40th Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN), 2015
The controller placement problem (CPP) is one of the key challenges of software defined networks to increase performance. Given the locations of switches, CPP consists of choosing the controller locations that minimize the latency between switches and controllers. In its current form, however, CPP assumes a fixed traffic and no existing solutions adapt

Placement of Aircraft Controls

1970
Abstract : Data are presented to guide the designer in placing aircraft controls to be operated by lightly clothed or pressure-suited aircrewmen. The capabilities of 17 subjects wearing various combinations of personal equipment to reach 81 locations within a 180 deg arc forward of seat reference point were determined.

Regularized Pole Placement Adaptive Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1988
The problem of ill conditioning of the design equations involved in adaptive pole placement control algorithms is addressed. A regularization procedure is proposed and analysed through numerical simulations.

Optimal memory controller placement for chip multiprocessor

Proceedings of the seventh IEEE/ACM/IFIP international conference on Hardware/software codesign and system synthesis, 2011
In this paper, we analyze and compare different placements of memory controllers for Chip Multiprocessors (CMPs). As the number of cores increases, Network-on-Chip (NoC) based architectures are proposed as a promising interconnect technique for CMP. The memory bandwidth between on-chip components and off-chip memory has become a critical problem.
