Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Optimal scheduling method of carbon-green certificate trading virtual power plant via Q-learning-enhanced particle swarm algorithm

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
The integration of renewable energy into modern power systems requires scheduling strategies that balance economic efficiency with low-carbon objectives.

Effective action and interaction energy of coupled quantum dots

open access: yes, 2003
We obtain the effective action of tunnel-coupled quantum dots, by modeling the system as a Luttinger liquid with multiple barriers. For a double dot system, we find that the resonance conditions for perfect conductance form a hexagon in the plane of the ...

Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Quantum Control at the Boundary

open access: yes, 2019
We present a scheme for controlling the state of a quantum system by modifying the boundary conditions. This constitutes an infinite-dimensional control problem.

NRASQ61R Expression in Lymphatic Endothelial Cells Causes Enlarged Vessels, Hemorrhagic Chylous Effusions, and High Mortality in a Mouse Model of Kaposiform Lymphangiomatosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

Tailoring optical fields emitted by nanometric sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Here we study a simple way of controlling the emitted fields of sub-wavelength nanometric sources. The system consists of arrays of nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in optical active media. The key concept is the careful tuning of NP's damping factors, which

Pulmonary Dysfunction Is Associated With Sleep Study Abnormalities in Children With Sickle Cell Disease: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pulmonary dysfunction and sleep abnormalities are common in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Whether spirometry abnormalities are associated with polysomnography (PSG) findings remains unclear.

Controlling chaos by the system size

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Despite the ubiquity of physical systems evolving on time-dependent spatial domains, understanding their regular and chaotic dynamics is still in a rudimentary state.

A robust layered control system for a mobile robot

open access: yesIEEE J. Robotics Autom., 1986
A new architecture for controlling mobile robots is described. Layers of control system are built to let the robot operate at increasing levels of competence. Layers are made up of asynchronous modules that communicate over low-bandwidth channels.
