Contusion Rupture of The Globe
Acta Ophthalmologica, 1987Abstract. Severe contusion‐injuries caused rupture of the globe in 20 eyes in 18 patients. 14 eyes had an open rupture (OR) and primary closure was performed in 13 eyes and one eye was enucleated. Six eyes with closed rupture (CR) had no emergency exploration. In both types of rupture, we intended to do vitrectomy within 14 days.

Ultrastructure of Contusion Cataract
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1995We investigated the histopathologic condition of four lenses with contusion rosette cataract by light and electron microscopy; periods between blunt trauma and cataract extraction varied from 4 months to 40 years. The initial morphologic changes appear to be the formation of intercellular vacuoles within the lens epithelium and the swelling of ...

Sixty-two cases of pulmonary contusion (PC) were treated in 3½ years. Of the last 37 patients, routinely treated with positive pressure ventilation (PPV), seven died, whereas of the first 25, in whom PPV was not routinely used from the outset, 12 died. The two groups were comparable in age, degree of trauma, and injuries to other body areas.
