Radiative and convective heat transfer coefficients of the human body in natural convection
Building and Environment, 2008The purpose of this study was to investigate the convective and radiative heat transfer coefficients of the human body, while focusing on the convective heat transfer area of the human body. Thermal sensors directly measuring the total heat flux and radiative heat flux were employed.

Sandwich holography for determining the convective heat transfer coefficient
Journal of Optics A: Pure and Applied Optics, 1999A sandwich hologram in the transmission mode is shown to be an efficient tool for determination of the heat transfer coefficient in a transparent fluid. The theory of the method, as well as its application to the free convection on a horizontal isothermal plate, is also given.

Convective heat transfer coefficient in compartment fires
Journal of Fire Sciences, 2013Heat transfer to compartment surfaces was measured in fully developed fire experiments. The experiments involved scaled compartments ranging from 1/8th to 3/8th with full-scale height of 2.54 m. Gas temperatures reached 1000°C, and total surface heat flux could reach 200 kW/m 2 , with ...

Evaluation of Reaeration by Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient
Journal of Environmental Engineering, 2018AbstractThe reaeration-rate coefficient (K2) is an essential parameter in water quality simulation because it aids predicting the water’s ability to assimilate organic pollutants.

Convective Heat Transfer Coefficients in Concentric Annuli
Heat Transfer Engineering, 2005Abstract The geometric shape of a passage's cross-section has an effect on its convective heat transfer capabilities. For concentric annuli, the diameter ratio of the annular space plays an important role. The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent research has been done on convective heat transfer in smooth concentric annuli and, if ...

Approximation of an optimal convective heat transfer coefficient
Optimal Control Applications and Methods, 2006The problem studied in this paper is that of a heat source (electronic chip) placed on the top surface of a flat thermal spreader which is cooled by convection on the opposite surface. An optimal convection heat transfer coefficient yielding maximal heat removal from the chip is found using an optimal control technique.

Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient for Poultry Excreta
Transactions of the ASAE, 1978ABSTRACT DATA were analyzed to determine material and con-figuration specific constants for calculating the con-vective heat transfer coefficient for poultry excreta. The convective heat transfer coefficient equation used was: where hc is the heat transfer coefficient, G is the mass velocity, Dc is a characteristic dimension, and the con-stants are a ...

2020 7th International Conference on Energy Efficiency and Agricultural Engineering (EE&AE), 2020
The paper presents a methodology and results for the determination of the heat convection coefficient by three-dimensional CFD simulation. Heat transfer processes realized between the water flow and the internal surface of the pipes of the “water-air” convector have been simulated.

In Vivo Measurement of Swine Endocardial Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2004We measured the endocardial convective heat transfer coefficient h at 22 locations in the cardiac chambers of 15 pigs in vivo. A thin-film Pt catheter tip sensor in a Wheatstone-bridge circuit, similar to a hot wire/film anemometer, measured h. Using fluoroscopy, we could precisely locate the steerable catheter sensor tip and sensor orientation in pigs'

Errors associated with interferometric measurement of convective heat transfer coefficients
Applied Optics, 1977Errors caused by refraction and end effects in interferometric systems are studied analytically. Both errors are estimated for Mach-Zehnder and differential interferometers when these instruments were used to measure convective heat transfer coefficients in air and water. Both errors were found to be larger for the Mach- Zehnder interferometer than for
