Phase Engineering of Nanomaterials (PEN): Evolution, Current Challenges, and Future Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the synthesis, phase transition, advanced characterization spanning ex situ to in situ and operando techniques, and diverse applications of phase engineering of nanomaterials (PEN). It further outlines key challenges and future opportunities, such as phase stability, architecture control, and artificial intelligence (AI)‐driven ...

Convenience Yields for CO2 Emission Allowance Futures Contracts [PDF]

open access: yes
In January 2005 the EU-wide CO2 emissions trading system (EU-ETS) has formally entered into operation. Within the new trading system, the right to emit a particular amount of CO2 becomes a tradable commodity - called EU Allowances (EUAs) - and affected ...

Effect of irrigation and grazing on the production of an alfalfa pasture (Medicago sativa L.)

open access: yesAgrociencia Uruguay
Alfalfa is a forage species widely used in Uruguay in intensive livestock and dairy farming. Supplementary irrigation makes it possible to mitigate the negative effects of climate change, increasing and stabilizing the productivity of pastures.

Tailoring Symmetry Breaking in Engineered van der Waals Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We pioneer a scheme to tailor superpotentials in graphene based on intrinsic substrate electronic orders rather than twist angle. The resulting superpotential folds graphene's Dirac cones to either Γ$\Gamma$ or K‐points, leading to distinct symmetry behaviors.

Wearable Morphology‐Adaptive in‐Ear Device With Active Cleansing Capability for Multimodal Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present SCIENCE, an in‐ear multimodal physiological monitor featuring two key innovations. Water‐triggered morphological expansion (a 2‐mm cylinder to a 9‐mm spindle) achieves conformal adaptation across complex canal geometries. Simultaneously, active biofouling mitigation disrupts cerumen barriers, reducing sensor‐skin impedance by 20%.

Analog Tensor Processing With Carbon Nanotube In‐Memory Matrix Multiplications for Edge Computer Vision Acceleration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work prototypes a carbon nanotube‐based analog tensor core that performs in‐memory, parallel visual processing. Integrating non‐volatile memories and compact circuits, the core enables high‐speed analog matrix multiplications and can demonstrate accurate three dimensional (3D) spatial transformation and edge detection. With lightweight design, the

Spotpreis-Modelle für Erdgas - Robustheit des Convenience Yield-Ansatzes

open access: yes, 2011
Bamberg, Univ., Diss., 2011This thesis investigates spot price models for natural gas and develops a new model, which incorporates both the simplicity of the set-up of reduced-form models and economic insights into the most important drivers of gas ...

Beyond Nanoporosity: A CO2‐Conditioned Glassy Matrix Contributes to the Brittle‐to‐Ductile Transition of Nanocellular Polyetherimide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The mechanical performance of nanocellular polyetherimide cannot be explained by nanoporosity alone. It is shown that CO2 saturation and desorption leave a distinct mechanical signature in the glassy matrix before foaming. This matrix contribution provides a new route to understand and optimize the brittle to ductile transition in nanocellular polymers.
