Δ9 Tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabis extracts differentially improve adipoinsular dysfunction in diet‐induced obesity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend THC and extract administered to diet‐induced obese mice reduced body weight and fat storage. Extract, but not THC, improved glucose clearance by a mechanism that may include restoring adipoinsular function. Abstract Diet‐induced obesity (DIO) is associated with dysregulated adipoinsular axis and endocannabinoid system (eCBS ...

Beneficial Role of Natural Polyphenols Against Epilepsy: Greasing the Wheels of Pharmacotherapy Research for Epilepsy

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Epilepsy is the most disabling neurological disease that affects all economic classes, age groups, regions, and races. Although many antiseizure drugs are approved for epilepsy treatment, they fail to work in about 30%–40% of patients. Thus, there is a great need to identify better pharmacological agents to treat epilepsy.

Effects of Cannabidiol‐Rich Cannabis Oil on Facial Expression Recognition and Theory of Mind in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesAutism Research, Volume 19, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT To evaluate, in a post hoc subanalysis, the effects of cannabidiol (CBD)‐rich cannabis oil on facial expression recognition and theory of mind in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This post hoc subanalysis included children from a double‐blind, randomized, placebo‐controlled trial who completed social cognition assessments at ...

Historical Plant Embryos as Alternative Sources of Ancient DNA for Whole Genome Sequencing [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources
ABSTRACT Natural history and agricultural collections contain hundreds of millions of specimens classified in terms of time, space and taxonomy. Since the first success of ancient DNA (aDNA) isolation in the 1980s, these repositories, including herbaria for plants, have been intensively used to support studies in taxonomy, macroevolution and genetic ...

Gallstone formation and hepatobiliary tumour risk: Clinical implications of the bile acid–gut microbiota axis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
1. Irregular dietary patterns (e.g., late breakfast, reduced meal frequency) upregulate the bai gene cluster by disrupting cholecystokinin (CCK) release rhythms and gut microbiota circadian rhythms, leading to increased production of secondary bile acids, particularly DCA. High‐carbohydrate dietary patterns increase gallstone risk (OR = 1.329).

Climate Change Impacts on the Distribution Patterns and Habitat Suitability of the Oriental Stork (Ciconia boyciana) in China: Implications for the “30 × 30” Conservation Targets

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2026.
Using an optimized MaxEnt model integrated with the HSI‐InVEST habitat quality model, we predicted that suitable habitats for the Oriental Stork in China will expand (0.22%–7.82%) and shift northeastward under future climate scenarios, with altitude and precipitation identified as key drivers.
