Convergence Criteria for Genetic Algorithms

SIAM Journal on Computing, 2000
Summary: We discuss convergence properties for genetic algorithms. By looking at the effect of mutation on convergence, we show that by running the genetic algorithm for a sufficiently long time we can guarantee convergence to a global optimum with any specified level of confidence.

Convergence Criteria for Successive Overrelaxation

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1975
Cyclic iterative methods for solving systems of linear equations are investigated with reference to necessary and sufficient conditions for convergence. For matrices with positive diagonal elements and nonpositive off-diagonal elements (so-called L-matrices), a “generalized” diagonal dominance is found to be necessary for convergence of the Gauss ...

Gibbs Sampler Convergence Criteria

Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1995
Abstract This article presents new operational convergence criteria for the Gibbs sampler (GS) and related procedures that are useful for determining whether they not only have converged but also have converged to provide reliable results. Three GS convergence criteria are presented and applied: the difference convergence criterion (DC2), the ratio ...

Inconsistent diagnostic criteria for convergence insufficiency

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2019
Convergence insufficiency (CI) is a common entity but seems to be an ill-defined diagnosis that incorporates many near-vision symptoms. The current literature often varies in its criteria for diagnosis. Without a clear definition and standardization of the clinical examination, there is the potential for misdiagnosis and/or the inclusion of other ...

Basic emotions: Can conflicting criteria converge?

Psychological Review, 1992
The authors discuss some of the key points raised by Ekman (1992), Izard (1992), and Panksepp (1992) in their critiques of Ortony and Turner's (1990) suggestion that there are and probably can be no objective and generally acceptable criteria for what is to count as a basic emotion.

[Psychometric validation of Convergence criteria PP].

Progres en urologie : journal de l'Association francaise d'urologie et de la Societe francaise d'urologie, 2021
The PP Convergences criteria group together 10 of the most significant clinical criteria for sensitization in the context of chronic pelvic pain. They are the result of a consensus of experts and represent to date the only clinical evaluation guide to identify patients with pelvic perineal pain in whom a pelvic sensitization component can be evoked ...

Convergence Criteria for Transversal Equalizers

Bell System Technical Journal, 1968
Two basic problems in the equalization of data channels using pulse-amplitude modulation are considered. The first of these is to determine just what pulses can be equalized and what the general equalization solution is when using a transversal filter.

Convergence Criteria for Iterative Processes

AIAA Journal, 1972
Introduction D the last few years, a considerable amount of effort has been put into the development of new methods of analysis for nonlinear structural systems. Taking advantage of the capabilities of modern electronic computers, these methods have been widely applied to problems of large deformations and stability, elasto-plasticity, creep, etc ...
