L-convergence paradox in numerical methods for PDEs
Abstract The usual linearizing assumptions about the propagation of round-off errors in numerical methods for linear and nonlinear PDEs prove to be unacceptable, since they lead to overstated stability conditions, which imply convergence results for PDEs that are better than the best possible similar results in the case of ODEs.

The appearance of nonlinear equations in science, engineering, economics, and medicine cannot be denied. Solving such equations requires numerical methods having higher-order convergence with cost-effectiveness, for the equations do not have exact ...

Moving bottlenecks: A numerical method that converges in flows [PDF]
This paper presents a numerical method to model kinematic wave (KW) traffic streams containing slow vehicles. The slow vehicles are modeled discretely as moving boundaries that can affect the traffic stream. The proposed scheme converges in flows, densities and speeds without oscillations, and therefore can be readily used in situations where one ...

Fast and precise underwater transducer characterisation utilising adaptive system identification
Characterising underwater acoustic transducers is essential to optimal signal processing in sound navigation and ranging systems. Precise characterisation allows for equalisation of the input and output hardware, resulting in improved performance of the ...

Two main topics are addressed in the present paper, first, a rigorous qualitative study of a second-order reaction–diffusion problem with non-linear diffusion and cubic-type reactions, as well as inhomogeneous dynamic boundary conditions.

Convergence of numerical schemes for convection–diffusion–reaction equations on generic meshes
Using the gradient discretisation method (GDM), we provide a generic convergence of numerical approximations for convection diffusion model with non linear reaction term. The convergence of numerical schemes is proved based on a limited number of natural

Second‐kind Fredholm integral‐equation analysis of scattering by layered dielectric gratings
Scattering of the E‐polarised plane electromagnetic wave from two different but of the same‐period all‐dielectric rectangular bar gratings on substrates is analysed using a volume‐integral‐equation (VIE) method.

Modifikasi metode iterasi berorde tiga dengan orde konvergensi optimal
Weerakoon-Fernando’s and Homeier’s methods are a third-order iterative method to solve nonlinear equations. A new third-order iterative method is constructed by sum of Weerakoon-Fernandon’s and Homeier’s method. This paper discusses the modification of
