Evaluation of thermophotovoltaic conversion efficiency

Journal of Applied Physics, 1982
The theory and the experiments on thermophotovoltaic (TPV) conversion are reported in this paper. The various parameters characterizing TPV systems are studied in order to provide design information for actual converters. Both the experimental results and theoretical calculations of TPV conversion efficiency are presented for comparison.

Efficient handling of string-number conversion

Proceedings of the 41st ACM SIGPLAN Conference on Programming Language Design and Implementation, 2020
String-number conversion is an important class of constraints needed for the symbolic execution of string-manipulating programs. In particular solving string constraints with string-number conversion is necessary for the analysis of scripting languages such as JavaScript and Python, where string-number conversion is a part of the definition of the core

Efficiency of Feed Conversion

Science, 1967
Under optimum conditions, young healthy individuals of each livestock species may convert about one-third of the digestible protein in its feed into tissue protein in its body. Of this tissue protein, we use about half as food.

Efficient Circuit to CNF Conversion

2007
Modern SAT solvers are proficient at solving Boolean satisfiability problems in Conjunctive Normal Form (CNF). However, these problems mostly arise from general Boolean circuits that are then translated to CNF. We outline a simple and expressive data structure for describing arbitrary circuits, as well as an algorithm for converting circuits to CNF ...

Efficient and safe-for-space closure conversion

ACM Transactions on Programming Languages and Systems, 2000
Modern compilers often implement function calls (or returns) in two steps: first, a “closure” environment is properly installed to provide access for free variables in the target program fragment; second, the control is transferred to the target by a “jump with arguments (for results).” Closure conversion—which decides where and how to ...

Perfect Photon-to-Hydrogen Conversion Efficiency

Nano Letters, 2016
We report a record 100% photon-to-hydrogen production efficiency, under visible light illumination, for the photocatalytic water-splitting reduction half-reaction. This result was accomplished by utilization of nanoparticle-based photocatalysts, composed of Pt-tipped CdSe@CdS rods, with a hydroxyl anion-radical redox couple operating as a shuttle to ...

Energy Conversion Efficiency in Nanotube Optoelectronics

Nano Letters, 2005
We present theoretical performance estimates for nanotube optoelectronic devices under bias. Current-voltage characteristics of illuminated nanotube p-n junctions are calculated using a self-consistent nonequilibrium Green's function approach. Energy conversion rates reaching tens of percent are predicted for incident photon energies near the band gap ...

Efficient octree conversion by connectivity labeling

Proceedings of the 11th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques, 1984
We present an algorithm for converting from the boundary representation of a solid to the corresponding octree model. The algorithm utilizes an efficient new connected components labeling technique. A novelty of the method is the demonstration that all processing can be performed directly on linear quad and octree encodings.

Exergy efficiency and conversion of chemical reactions

Energy Conversion and Management, 1998
An exergy analysis of the ammonia oxidation in nitrous oxide has been performed using alternatively the conventional second law efficiency and the more recently proposed intrinsic exergy efficiency. It is shown that the second law efficiency does not account for the conversion effect on the overall performance of a chemical system while the intrinsic ...
