Energy Conversion Efficiencies
2012Efficiency is a measure of the true effectiveness or performance of a system or a process. It may take different forms but it can generally be defined as the desired output over the required input. Energy conversion efficiency refers to an efficiency definition for a device for which one form of energy is converted to another form.

Absolute oil fluorescence conversion efficiency
Applied Optics, 1976A conceptual method has been developed to deduce the characteristic infinite thickness absolute conversion efficiencies of oils from measured finite thickness film fluorescent returns. The sea water Raman signal is used as a reference in deducing the fluorescent efficiencies.

Efficient radix conversions for classes of radices
2015 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2015Radix conversion for conventional number systems can be computed using one of the four algorithms reviewed and discussed in [1], depending on whether the source or the destination radix arithmetic is used and whether an integer or a fraction is to be converted.

Optics Letters, 2011
By stacking alternatively rotated gallium phosphide (GaP) plates, the maximum photon conversion efficiency of 40% for the terahertz (THz) generation based on difference-frequency generation has been achieved. The corresponding peak power generated inside the four GaP plates approaches 4 kW.

Compact and efficient presentation conversion code
IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 1998The inefficient presentation conversion code is a major difficulty for using a distributed-applications development environment (such as a CORBA-, Java-RMI-, DCE-, or ASN.1-based environment) to build high-speed network applications. The stub compilers included in these environments generate code that is either very slow or has a large code size.

Solar-to-Biomass Conversion Efficiency
2015A maximum theoretical yield in solar-to-biomass conversion can be estimated from the efficiency of the photosynthetic process, considering utilization of all available light. The solar-to-biomass conversion yield is expected to be higher in algae than in terrestrial plants, because algae do not need to consume energy for the development of supporting ...
