The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

ALLSMOG: An APEX low-redshift legacy survey for molecular gas - I. molecular gas scaling relations, and the effect of the CO/H2 conversion factor [PDF]
We present ALLSMOG, the APEX Low-redshift Legacy Survey for MOlecular Gas. ALLSMOG is a survey designed to observe the CO(2-1) emission line with the APEX telescope, in a sample of local galaxies (0.01 < z < 0.03), with stellar masses in the range 8.5 ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

THE CO-TO-H2 CONVERSION FACTOR ACROSS THE PERSEUS MOLECULAR CLOUD [PDF]
We derive the CO-to-H2 conversion factor, XCO = N(H2)/ICO, across the Perseus molecular cloud on sub-parsec scales by combining the dust-based N(H2) data with the ICO data from the COMPLETE Survey.

Effect of Mid-Diameter and Log-Parameters on the Conversion Factor of Cubic Measure to Solid Measure Concerning Industrial Timber [PDF]
Concerning industrial timber, the measure of stacked logs with equal wood length is cubic meter with bark (FVA 1997). It is consequently a volumetric measure including the non wood-containing spaces. The following work determines by extensive tests the

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
