High-gain DC-DC conversion for parallel photovoltaic arrays

2013 Twenty-Eighth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2013
A new approach to photovoltaic (PV) arrays is proposed based on a parallel connection scheme. In a series-connected array, differing insolation due to shading or obstructions causes disproportionate reduction in power output. Because operating voltage is governed more by temperature than by insolation, a parallel-connected array is much more robust to ...

The Conversion Gain and Stability of MESFET Gate Mixers

9th European Microwave Conference, 1979, 1979
The conversion gain of MESFET gate mixers has been calculated based on the directly measurable S- und Y-parameters, respectively. The analytical results show that parasitic mixing products can be neglected and that the reactions can be suppressed by shorting the IF at the gate and the signal, image, and sum frequency at the drain.

A Note on Noise and Conversion-Gain Measurements

Proceedings of the IRE, 1947
The development of microwave receivers with a low-gain converter as the first stage has made it desirable that the noise level and the conversion gain be determined independently of the following intermediate-frequency amplifier. Often this converter is a crystal with a conversion gain less than one.

A low-voltage ultra-wideband down-conversion mixer with improved power conversion gain

International Journal of Electronics, 2011
This article presents a wideband mixer using a TSMC 0.18 µm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor technology process for ultra-wideband (UWB) system applications. The measured 3-dB radio frequency (RF) bandwidth is from 3 to 8.4 GHz with an intermediate frequency of 10 MHz.

High-conversion-gain charge-amplifier circuit

2018
The present invention relates to a high-conversion-gain charge-amplifier device that comprises a voltage amplifier and a feedback loop between the output and input of the amplifier, such that the feedback loop consists of a capacitor connected in series with a voltage divider, the voltage divider comprising at least one variable capacitor connected ...

Nonlinear interferometry with high-gain parametric down-conversion

2021
Interferometers have become essential devices within research and industry because they can measure phase shifts, often very small ones. Increasing the number of probing photons enhances the accuracy of this measurement, but with a bounded scaling called the shot-noise limit. The field of nonlinear interferometry studies how to surpass this limit using
