Resonant mode conversion in the waveguides with an unbroken and broken PT-symmetry [PDF]
We study resonant mode conversion in the PT-symmetric multimode waveguides, where symmetry breaking manifests itself in sequential destabilization (appearance of the complex eigenvalues) of the pairs of adjacent guided modes.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Dose-rate conversion factors: update
In the field of luminescence and electron spin resonance dating, dose rate conversion factors are widely used to convert concentrations of radioactive isotopes to dose rate values. These factors are derived from data provided by the National Nuclear Data Center of the Brookhaven National Laboratory, which are compiled in Evaluated Nuclear Structure ...

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

An investigation into catalysts to improve the low temperature performance of an SCR [PDF]
Selective catalytic reduction with NH3 is considered as one of the most effective technologies controlling NOx emission. Metal Fe based catalysts were used in the investigation to improve the low temperature performance of NOx conversion. The temperature

This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Using tensor properties of four wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers for polarization independent wavelength conversion or pump suppression [PDF]
Summary form only given. Wavelength conversion by four-wave mixing (FWM) in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) has several advantages, including transparency to the modulation format and bit rate.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by
