Hybrid Transformer With Matrix Converter

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2016
This paper deals with an ac–ac voltage regulator/compensator based on a hybrid transformer with a matrix converter realizing electrical coupling in the hybrid transformer unit. The parameters of electrical energy, such as voltage amplitude, are very important, particularly from the viewpoint of the final consumer and sensitive loads connected to the ...

Transformer synthesis for VHF converters

The 2010 International Power Electronics Conference - ECCE ASIA -, 2010
This document presents a method to synthesize an air-core transformer with a given inductance matrix. The proposed algorithm is used to design a two-winding transformer for a Φ 2 resonant dc-dc converter operating in the VHF (30–300 MHz) regime. The method realizes the required inductance matrix to achieve proper tuning while trading volume and ...

Differential protection of converter transformers

2016 17th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2016
In this paper, development of the special converter transformer model (with 5 windings) and testing results of its differential protection is presented. The special converter transformer is mainly used for supply of rectifiers or converters, FACTS devices etc. This type of transformer can introduce non-standard fixed phase angle shifts such as 20o, 15o,

Piezoelectric transformer converter with frequency control

Proceedings of INTELEC 95. 17th International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 2002
An efficient piezoelectric transformer (PT) power converter with frequency control is presented. The optimum-designed reactance components are able to keep power efficiency high while controlling the output voltage for some load variation. An implemented PT power converter with frequency control achieves an efficiency higher than 75% at V/sub o/=5 V, I/

Matrix transformer for LLC resonant converters

2013 Twenty-Eighth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2013
In this paper, a high efficiency high power density matrix transformer structure for LLC resonant converters is proposed. Matrix transformer is help to reduce leakage inductance and the AC resistance of windings. Flux cancellation method is utilized to reduce core size and loss.

Resonant converter transformer design and optimization

2011 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2011
A new, low-profile, low-loss resonant converter transformer is proposed. Its design allows the absorption of the series inductor of the resonant converter through its leakage inductance. The windings are concentric with ferrite between them to control the leakage inductance.

Differential Protection for Converter Transformers

12th IET International Conference on Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP 2014), 2014
This paper will present differential protection schemes used for special Converter Transformers. These transformers are typically used to feed MV drives, power electronic or FACTS devises. Converter transformers are industrial power transformers which may have phase angle shift different from standard 30o or a multiple of 30o.

Multiphase Converter Based on Transformer Coupling

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2011
In this paper, a multiphase converter where the phases are coupled by transformers is proposed to implement a minimum energy-storage converter. Advantages and drawbacks of this topology are analyzed and validated by means of three prototypes. The two main advantages of the minimum energy-storage concept are that the converter can be operated at very ...

Transformation Elastography: Converting Anisotropy to Isotropy

2020 IEEE 17th International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI), 2020
Elastography refers to mapping mechanical properties in a material based on measuring wave motion in it using noninvasive optical, acoustic or magnetic resonance imaging methods. For example, increased stiffness will increase wavelength. Stiffness and viscosity can depend on both location and direction. A material with aligned fibers or layers may have

Isolated ZVS two-transformer boost converter

2009 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2009
A new zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) two-transformer boost converter (TTBC) is proposed in this paper. The magnetizing inductors of two transformer act as boost inductor, while two transformers provide a galvanic isolation. Moreover, ZVS of all switches can be achieved. Therefore, the proposed converter is promising for high step-up isolated applications
