Technology and Application of Multi‐Energy System: An Engineering Study in China

open access: yesEnergy Internet, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multi‐energy system (MES) is crucial for the development of smart cities. This paper summarises the research progress and achievements from an engineering case study in China which aims at enhancing MES energy efficiency. Key theories and technologies were tested at an MES demonstration site in Hunan, China, using both software and hardware ...

A computational efficient approach for distributionally robust unit commitment with enhanced disjointed layered ambiguity set

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, EarlyView.
This paper proposes an efficient computational approach to address the distributionally robust unit commitment problem in the context of high renewable energy penetration. The enhanced ambiguity set is designed to leverage more data information, resulting in a reliable and less conservative solution. Through model analysis, the paper introduces a novel

Linking geographic distribution and niche through estimation of niche density

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
Species with larger climatic tolerances (niches) may have large or small geographic ranges, dependent on the commonness of favourable climatic conditions across geographic space. Here, we explore the relationship between geographic range size and niche area, while also proposing a novel measure of niche density.

Modelling amphibian road crossing points in a dynamic environment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, EarlyView.
Not considering the spatiotemporal variability of the environment can lead to a loss of crucial information when modelling the localities at which the predicted flows of animals intersect the highway. The dynamics of road‐affected ecosystems can be taken into account using freely available remote sensing data.

On $k$-convex hulls

open access: yes
For every integer $k\geq 2$ and every $R>1$ one can find a dimension $n$ and construct a symmetric convex body $K\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ with $\text{diam} Q_{k-1}(K)\geq R\cdot\text{diam} Q_k(K)$, where $Q_k(K)$ denotes the $k$-convex hull of $K$. The purpose of this short note is to show that this result due to E.
