Biomimetic Structural Design for Reducing the Adhesion Between Wet Rice Leaves and Metal Surfaces

open access: yesAgriculture
Adhesion behavior between wet rice leaves and metal surfaces exacerbates the difficulty in separating and removing grains in the cleaning device.

An Efficient Index Building Algorithm for Selection of Aggregator Nodes in Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2014
In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), aggregator nodes perform the data aggregation process. Thus, careful selection of the aggregator nodes is needed to reduce network traffic in data aggregation process and prolong overall lifetime of the network.

Convex hulls, oracles, and homology

open access: yesJournal of Symbolic Computation, 2004
This paper presents a new algorithm for the convex hull problem, which is based on a reduction to a combinatorial decision problem POLYTOPE-COMPLETENESS-COMBINATORIAL, which in turn can be solved by a simplicial homology computation. Like other convex hull algorithms, our algorithm is polynomial (in the size of input plus output) for simplicial or ...

Degradation Mechanism of Phosphate‐Based Li‐NASICON Conductors in Alkaline Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 15, Issue 11, March 18, 2025.
The presence of water in the cathode of a Li‐air battery shifts reactions to produce LiOH, creating a corrosive, alkaline environment. This study investigates the alkaline stability of the common Li‐NASICON solid‐state conductor chemistries through a systematic experimental study combined with computational modeling to understand the degradation ...

Design for Copying Grouser and Bionic Convex Hull Patterns on Track Surfaces of Crawler Combine Harvesters

open access: yesAgriculture
In the rainy season, which often has uncertain rainfall, crawler combine harvesters have difficulty traversing wet and soft rice fields. A large amount of clay is often accumulated on the track surfaces, resulting in frequent slipping and sinking, which ...

Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials for Energy Materials: Architectures, Training Strategies, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Machine learning interatomic potentials bridge quantum accuracy and computational efficiency for materials discovery. Architectures from Gaussian process regression to equivariant graph neural networks, training strategies including active learning and foundation models, and applications in solid‐state electrolytes, batteries, electrocatalysts ...

Universally Accurate or Specifically Inadequate? Stress‐Testing General Purpose Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We investigate MACE‐MP‐0 and M3GNet, two general‐purpose machine learning potentials, in materials discovery and find that both generally yield reliable predictions. At the same time, both potentials show a bias towards overstabilizing high energy metastable states. We deduce a metric to quantify when these potentials are safe to use.

Detection of influential points by convex hull volume minimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
summary:A method of geometrical characterization of multidimensional data sets, including construction of the convex hull of the data and calculation of the volume of the convex hull, is described.

Deephullnet: a deep learning approach for solving the convex hull and concave hull problems with transformer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth
Convex and concave hulls originating from computational geometry are widely applied in practice. For instance, to determine the boundaries of a geographical area within a group of cities, convex hulls can represent the approximate boundaries of the areas.
