Stable polynomials, Lorentzian polynomials and discrete convexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A multivariate polynomial is stable if it is nonzero whenever all its variables have positive imaginary parts. Lorentzian polynomials generalize homogeneous and stable polynomials.

A note on fuzzy convexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper, we introduce and study the concept of semistrictly convex fuzzy sets.We also prove that for the upper semicontinuous case, the class of semistrictly convex fuzzy sets lies between the convex and strictly convex classes.

Hidden Convexity in Partially Separable Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper identifies classes of nonconvex optimization problems whose convex relaxations have optimal solutions which at the same time are global optimal solutions of the original nonconvex problems. Such a hidden convexity property was so far limited to

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Characterizing Convexity of Games using Marginal Vectors [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we study the relation between convexity of TU games and marginal vectors. We show that if specfic marginal vectors are core elements, then the game is convex. We characterize sets of marginal vectors satisfying this property, and we derive ...
