General Decay for a Viscoelastic Equation with Acoustic Boundary Conditions and a Logarithmic Nonlinearity

open access: yesMathematics
In this work, we investigate the stability of solutions in a situation where the logarithmic source term competes with the viscoelastic dissipation under acoustic boundary conditions.

Convex characterization of linearly convex domains

open access: yesMATHEMATICA SCANDINAVICA, 2012
We prove that a $C^{1,1}$-smooth bounded domain $D$ in $\mathbf{C}^n$ is linearly convex if and only if the convex hull of any two discs in $D$ with common center lies in $D$.

Start, Stop, Rewind, Repeat—Cyclic Exposure of Adipose Stromal Cells‐derived Cartilage Organoids to Chondrogenic and Proliferative Cues to Achieve Scaled‐up and Customizable Bone Formation by Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study exploits the plasticity of ASCs‐derived cartilage organoids which generate a perichondrial layer of MSCs when exposed to cyclic chondrogenic/proliferative cues. Using these organoids as building blocks, we develop (i) Phalange Shaped Tissue Engineered Cartilage (Pa‐TECs), recapitulating endochondral ossification suitable for the treatment of

Monge extensions of cooperation and communication structures [PDF]

open access: yes
Cooperation structures without any {\it a priori} assumptions on the combinatorial structure of feasible coalitions are studied and a general theory for mar\-ginal values, cores and convexity is established.

The Space Within: How Architected Voids Promote Tissue Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the role of void spaces in tissue engineering scaffolds and examines four key methods for introducing porosity into hydrogels at different scales. It discusses sacrificial templating, microgels, phase separation, and 3D printing, highlighting principles, advantages, and limitations. It also addresses emerging strategies integrating

Hybrid Optimization in Prosumer-to-Grid Energy Management System for Pareto-Optimal Solution

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Energy management in smart microgrids is critical to achieving sustainable and efficient energy utilization. This study introduces a hybrid optimization framework combining neural networks (NNs) and multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGAs) (hybrid NN ...

On φ-convexity of convex functions

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1998
The authors construct a non-trivial set \(\Phi\) of extended-real valued functions on \(R^n\) containing all affine functions, such that an extended-real valued function defined on \(R^n\) is convex if and only if it is \(\Phi\)-convex, i.e., it is the pointwise supremum of some subset of \(\Phi\). They also prove a new sandwich theorem.

Remorphable Architectures: Reprogramming Global Bistability through Locally Bistable Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Local bistable reconfiguration in mechanical metamaterials is leveraged in globally bistable architectures to enable in situ reprogrammable transition pathways through state flip of individual building blocks. The local‐to‐global correspondence of instabilities empowers soft robotic systems with on‐demand morphing traits, as well as aerospace ...

Mannheim–d’Ocagne–Koenderink-type formula for surfaces in Lorentz–Minkowski 3-space

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics for Industry
The Mannheim–d’Ocagne–Koenderink formula and its variants given in the authors’ recent work are formulas for Gaussian curvature, which are related to the orthogonal projection of a given regular surface.
