Prediction of Surface Topography Parameters in Direct Laser Interference Patterning of Stainless Steel Using Infrared Monitoring and Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an infrared monitoring approach for direct laser interference patterning (DLIP) combined with a convolutional neural network (CNN). Thermal emission data captured during structuring are used to predict surface topography parameters.

On the Eulerian numbers and Power Sums

open access: yes, 2018
In this short report we discuss a relation between Triangle of Eulerian Numbers and Power sums of the form Σkkm, where k,m are positive integers.3 ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Deep Generalized Convolutional Sum-Product Networks

open access: yes, 2019
Sum-Product Networks (SPNs) are hierarchical, graphical models that combine benefits of deep learning and probabilistic modeling. SPNs offer unique advantages to applications demanding exact probabilistic inference over high-dimensional, noisy inputs. Yet, compared to convolutional neural nets, they struggle with capturing complex spatial relationships

Limit Theorems for Additive Conditionally Free Convolution

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we determine the limiting distributional behavior for sums of infinitesimal conditionally free random variables. We show that the weak convergence of classical convolution and that of conditionally free convolution are equivalent for ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Evaluation of the convolution sums ∑ak+bl+cm=nσ(k)σ(l)σ(m) with lcm(a,b,c) = 7,8 or 9

open access: yes, 2018
It is known that the generating functions of divisor functions are quasimodular forms of weight [Formula: see text]. Hence their product is a quasimodular form of higher weight. In this paper, we evaluate the convolution sums [Formula: see text] for all

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Arithmetic progression sums of binomial coefficients

open access: yes, 1997
Using a variant of the Vandermonde convolution, a recurrence relation is derived for arithmetic progression sums of binomial coefficients. The classical roots of unity identity by Ramus is derived and interpreted in terms of the characteristic ...
