Modified Convolutional Interleavers for Parallel Concatenated Block Codes

IEEE Communications Letters, 2022
The letter presents a modification on the block-wise operation of convolutional interleavers for the Parallel Concatenated Block (PCB) codes. Interleaving is conducted so that every block of the interleaved data includes one bit of a message block.

Parallelized convolutional interleaver implementation for efficient DDR memory access

open access: closedFree-Space Laser Communications XXXIV, 2022
Convolutional interleavers are used in many different communications systems to correct for burst errors due to atmospheric fades and scintillation. The interleaver size is related to the channel coherence time and the data rate.

Concatenated convolutional codes with interleavers

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2003
This article presents a tutorial overview of the class of concatenated convolutional codes with interleavers, also known as turbo-like codes. They are powerful codes, formed by a number of encoders connected through interleavers, endowed by a decoding algorithm that splits the decoding burden into separate decoding of each individual code.

Convolutional interleavers for stream-oriented parallel concatenated convolutional codes

Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.98CH36252), 1998
The design of convolutional interleavers (CIs) is considered for a stream-oriented parallel concatenated convolutional coding (PCCC). Design rules are developed for CIs using analysis of the interleaving equations as well as simulation results. Results show that CIs are viable design options which can offer improved performance for low latency designs ...

Deep Convolutional Network Based on Interleaved Fusion Group

open access: closedIEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems, 2020
It is known that the classification accuracy of the deep convolutional network can be remarkably improved by increasing its depth and width. However, as the network size increases, the number of network parameters will increase significantly, which results in network redundancy and performance degradation.

Convolutional Codes and Finite Interleavers for the Block Erasure Channel

Mobile Communications, 1994
In this paper we analyze a simple model which attempts to describe the transmission of convolutionally encoded data over channels with memory using finite interleaving. The model could for example describe the performance of a slow frequency hopping system in which every frequency is either totally blocked or else noiseless, and in which interleaving ...

High Throughput Multi-Threaded Software Defined Convolutional Interleaver

2021 IEEE Aerospace Conference (50100), 2021
A convolutional interleaver is a data reordering operation used to distribute bursts of errors and improve the performance of forward error correction algorithms in the presence of dropout events. This type of interleaver is used in several commercial and military standards as it offers the same performance as a traditional rectangular interleaver but ...
