Radiative properties of Surfaces and energy saving in buildings: the cool roofs

open access: yes, 2005
Cool roofs are building coverings having high reflectance to solar radiation and high emittance in the infrared range. They can provide an effective solution to building overheating during hot seasons. In the U.S.A.

Modified Anatomical Ablation Strategy for Mitral Isthmus

open access: yesPacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Durable mitral isthmus (MI) block remains challenging in persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation. Ethanol infusion into the vein of Marshall (EI‐VOM) enhances efficacy, but the minimal endocardial ablation extent post‐EI‐VOM is undefined.

On the relationship between Photosystem II thermotolerance and irreversible heat damage in leaves of Rhizophora mangle

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Temperature‐F0 fluorescence curves of Rhizophora mangle leaves demonstrate that Tcrit, the temperature at which F0 begins to rise, is unrelated to tissue necrosis; irreversible leaf damage starts to occur at significantly higher temperatures where fluorescence emission is maximal. Abstract Global temperatures are on the rise and may, together with more

A matter of timing: sagebrush steppe restoration seeding outcomes altered by species responses to warmer spring temperatures and interannual weather variation

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Restoration outcomes in cold desert ecosystems like sagebrush steppe are affected by weather variability, particularly during the spring, a critical time period for seedling establishment. Seedling emergence phenology is also highly variable among species in these ecosystems.

Return of the ants: investigating temporal and spatial patterns of ant colonization in unsealed schoolyards

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Urban soil unsealing, the removal of impervious surface layers, is increasingly promoted as a habitat restoration strategy to enhance ecosystem resilience in cities. Yet, its potential to support soil biodiversity from the onset remains underexplored.

Managing Complaint Mechanisms for Regulatory Enforcement: Evidence From Human Rights Institutions During the COVID‐19 Pandemic

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT How do regulatory bodies ensure that including the beneficiaries of regulation in regulatory processes improves governance? In many regulatory arrangements, beneficiaries' “fire alarm” monitoring and reporting of targets' violations via complaint mechanisms activate regulatory bodies' enforcement role.
