The Second Guide Star Catalogue and Cool Stars

2001
We discuss how the Second Guide Star Catalogue, GSC-II, will use cool stars to constrain the faint end of the luminosity function, the white dwarf contribution to dark matter in the halo and the nearby stellar population. We also assess the potential of GSC-II for research on the new ultracool L and T dwarfs.
