Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

MODELLING ROOM COOLING CAPACITY WITH FUZZY LOGIC PROCEDURE

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Technology, 2016
The primary aim of this study is to develop a model for estimation of the cooling requirement of residential rooms. Fuzzy logic was employed to model four input variables (window area (m2), roof area (m2), external wall area (m2) and internal load (Watt).

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Experimental Study on Refrigeration Characteristics of Absorption Chiller in Marine Environment

open access: yesEnergies
Absorption chillers are key installations for recovering waste heat on offshore oil platforms. However, experimental data remain insufficient regarding how marine-induced vibration and sway affect lithium bromide (LiBr) chiller performance, which limits ...

General Approach for Composite Thermoelectric Systems with Thermal Coupling: The Case of a Dual Thermoelectric Cooler

open access: yesEntropy, 2015
In this work, we show a general approach for inhomogeneous composite thermoelectric systems, and as an illustrative case, we consider a dual thermoelectric cooler. This composite cooler consists of two thermoelectric modules (TEMs) connected thermally in

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Performance of a transcritical carbon dioxide heat pump for simultaneous refrigeration and water heating : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Many industrial processes require both refrigeration to less than 0°C and water heating to greater than 60°C. Traditional independent refrigeration and boiler systems have relatively poor energy efficiency, whilst conventional heat pumps can provide both
