Deforestation in the tropics is a major threat to forest‐specialist animals, many of which are already threatened with extinction. We assessed how forest fragmentation and its associated edge‐effects impact animal biodiversity in Northwest Madagascar using soundscape analysis and acoustic indices.

Abstract Kohl was ubiquitous in ancient Egypt and the Middle East, and routinely included among the toiletries deposited in burials. For Egypt, kohl recipes are increasingly well‐studied and known to use a range of inorganic and organic ingredients. Although these are often lead‐based, manganese‐ and silicon‐rich compounds are also attested.

Museum Care of Indigenous Cradles: Insights From Consultation With Tribal Communities
ABSTRACT Traditional cradles are important objects in many Indigenous American cultures. A historical tendency of museums to overlook Indigenous perspectives on proper object handling and display has often resulted in improper care of culturally sensitive objects in museum collections.

Gentrification Everywhere? Delinking Culture‐Led Regeneration From Gentrification
ABSTRACT This paper challenges the prevalent use of “gentrification” (shishen hua [士紳化/仕紳化] or jinshen hua [縉紳化]) as a catch‐all critique of culture‐led regeneration and neighborhood transformations, including rent increases and shifts in aesthetic and tastes, in Sinophone Asia and beyond.

Core-shell microdisk with InGaN/GaN quantum wells for dual-band whispering gallery mode lasing
The development of high-quality, stable, and cost-effective micro/nano dual-band lasing remains a crucial challenge for multifunctional applications. In this study, we demonstrated high-Q dual-band whispering gallery mode lasing in an independent core ...

Optomechanically induced non-reciprocity in microring resonators
We describe a new approach for on-chip optical non-reciprocity which makes use of strong optomechanical interaction in microring resonators. By optically pumping the ring resonator in one direction, the optomechanical coupling is only enhanced in that ...
