Thermal Characteristic and Analysis of Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator

open access: yesIEEE Access
Electro-hydrostatic actuators (EHAs) are widely utilized due to their superior integration and high power-to-weight ratio. However, the elimination of a centralized oil source in EHAs restricts the cooling capacity of the system, leading to potential ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Research on Temperature Change Law and Non-Uniform Distribution Characteristics of Electromagnetic Control Roll Based on Rotating Heat Flow

open access: yesMachines
The uniform temperature distribution on the surface of the electromagnetic control roll (ECR) has a great impact on the quality of the strip; therefore, temperature control is essential.

Cooling Performance Analysis of Regeneratively Cooled Combustion Chamber

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences, 2004
A regenerative cooling system has been designed through empirical 1-D analysis for a liquid rocket engine of 30-ton-level thrust. The hot-gas-side wall temperature from 1-D analysis shows 100K difference compared to 3D CFD analysis. Two variations of design with same cooling performance are suggested for different maximum channel widths i.e., 4mm and ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Quantum speed limit constraints on a nanoscale autonomous refrigerator

open access: yes, 2018
Quantum speed limit, furnishing a lower bound on the required time for the evolution of a quantum system through the state space, imposes an ultimate natural limitation to the dynamics of physical devices.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Observation of vacancy-induced suppression of electronic cooling in defected graphene

open access: yes, 2014
Previous studies of electron-phonon interaction in impure graphene have found that static disorder can give rise to an enhancement of electronic cooling.
