We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Cooling Rate Controlled Aging of a Co-Free Fe-Ni-Cr-Mo-Ti-Al Maraging Steel
Maraging steels are high-strength steels that are hardened by the formation of precipitates during an isothermal aging heat treatment. Depending on the aging temperature and time the cooling rate after holding can play a significant factor on the ...

Nuclear superfluidity and cooling time of neutron star crusts [PDF]
We analyse the effect of neutron superfluidity on the cooling time of inner crust matter in neutron stars, in the case of a rapid cooling of the core. The specific heat of the inner crust, which determines the thermal response of the crust, is calculated in the framework of HFB approach at finite temperature.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Simulation of an active cooling system for low-concentratinag photovoltaic solar cells
One of the key challenges of concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) systems is the need for effective thermal management, as the increased solar irradiance significantly raises the operating temperature of solar cells, thereby reducing their efficiency.

Time-optimal frictionless atom cooling in harmonic traps [PDF]
Frictionless atom cooling in harmonic traps is formulated as a time-optimal control problem and a synthesis of optimal controlled trajectories is obtained. This work has already been used to determine the minimum time for transition between two thermal states and to show the emergence of the third law of classical thermodynamics from quantum ...

The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Cooling parameters for fruits and vegetables of different sizes in a hydrocooling system
The cooling of fruits and vegetables in hydrocooling system can be a suitable technique. This work aimed to define cooling time for fruits and vegetables of different sizes, presenting practical indexes that could be used to estimate cooling time for ...
