Self-organizing cooperative WWW caching

Proceedings. 18th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (Cat. No.98CB36183), 2002
A distributed, self-organizing cooperative caching mechanism for WWW is proposed. The servers maintain a cooperative cache without a centralized server, adapt themselves to the change of network speed and server addition and failure, and need little manual administration.

A novel cooperative caching algorithm for massive P2P caches

Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications, 2013
For an ISP (Internet Service Provider) that has deployed P2P caches in more than one ASs (autonomous systems), cooperative caching which makes their caches cooperate with each other can save more cost of carrying P2P traffic than independent caching.

An Efficient Cache Replacement Strategy in Mobile Cooperative Caching

2011 7th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2011
Cooperative caching strategies have been proposed to improve access latency, reduce battery power consumption and bandwidth usage in mobile environment. However the biggest disadvantage of these mechanisms is how to manage mobile client's cache effectively due to its limited storage space.

Cooperative Transmission via Caching Helpers

2015 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2014
This paper models the cooperative transmission via caching helpers (cache-based joint transmission), which cache one of the K most popular files, in wireless cellular networks and analyzes its performance in terms of the file transmission success probability in the stochastic geometry framework.

Adaptive Set-Granular Cooperative Caching

IEEE International Symposium on High-Performance Comp Architecture, 2012
Current Chip Multiprocessors (CMPs) consist of several cores, cache memories and interconnection networks in the same chip. Private last level cache (LLC) configurations assign a static portion of the LLC to each core. This provides lower latency and isolation, at the cost of depriving the system of the possibility of reassigning underutilized ...

Management of a cooperative cache in grids with grid cache services

Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, 2007
AbstractDistributed systems like grids support diverse models of distributed computation and need to operate large data entities in a distributed way. A significant quantity of this data are used only for a limited period of time. Caching is recognized as one of the most effective techniques to manage temporary data and collaborative cache is ...

Distributed in-network cooperative caching

2012 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Cloud Computing and Intelligence Systems, 2012
Named Data Networking (NDN) featuring in-network caching capability is a large effort that exemplifies information-centric approach to networking by shifting emphasis from hosts to data so as to meet growing demand on content. This work explores a scheme that enables a NDN domain to make full use of its in-network caches to enhance its performance ...

Anycast-Based Cooperative Proxy Caching

2005
As one of the most popular applications currently running on the Internet, the World Wide Web is of an exponential growth in size, which results in the network congestion and server overloading. Web caching as an important technique aims at reducing network traffic, server load, and user-perceived retrieval delays by replicating popular contents on ...

Cooperative Web Caching

2011
Most clients are placed behind the proxy servers on the Internet. Proxy servers have the disk cache space, network bandwidth, and availability to cache part of the objects for clients. In addition, the number of proxy servers can be increased or decreased dynamically according to the anticipated server workload, making them good candidates to alleviate

Improving Cache Effectiveness Based on Cooperative Cache Management in MANETs

Wireless Personal Communications, 2017
In wireless mobile Ad Hoc networks, cooperative cache management is considered as an efficient technique to increase data availability and improve access latency. This technique is based on coordination and sharing of cached data between nodes belonging to the same area. In this paper, we studied the cooperative cache management strategies.
