Apex predators exploit advantageous snow conditions across hunting modes
Journal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.Advantageous snow conditions—in terms of snow depth and density—are among the most important features of the winter landscape for two apex predators, regardless of hunting strategy. In a warming climate, the knock‐on effects of a diminishing snowpack may reduce the hunting success of multiple large carnivore species.

CuRast: Cuda‐Based Software Rasterization for Billions of Triangles
Computer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.Abstract This paper presents a CUDA‐based software rasterizer capable of rendering up to a billion unique triangles, or up to 4 billion instanced triangles, in real time at 60 fps on an RTX 5090. By specifically targeting dense, opaque meshes, our approach is able to outperform the native GPU rasterization pipeline in these scenarios.

The effect of caste, mass and colony identity on rescue priorities in the red imported fire ant
Ecological Entomology, EarlyView.Fire ants will rescue brood when the brood becomes trapped underground. We find that rescuers may use odor cues to locate trapped rescue targets. We demonstrate that a single reproductive larva is preferentially rescued over a single worker larva, but that caches of multiple worker larvae receive equal treatment as a single reproductive larva.
