Cooperative Diversity with Partially Cooperative Relays
2009 5th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2009Wireless relays extend coverage, improve spectral efficiency, and enhance reliability and rates of wireless communication systems. In this work, we introduce a three-hop cooperative system model comparing to conventional dual-hop cooperative systems, assuming all terminals can only share a part of power for cooperation and have only one antenna for ...

Cooperator switch diversity in cooperative networks
PACRIM. 2005 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and signal Processing, 2005., 2005Cooperative diversity allows single-antenna terminals to explore uplink transmit diversity via antenna sharing. However, the achievable diversity gain is limited by the imperfect source-relay link. In this paper, we propose a cooperator switch diversity scheme to enhance the performance of cooperative networks.

Joint cooperation diversity and symbol mapping diversity in cooperative communication systems
2007 International Conference on Communications, Circuits and Systems, 2007In this paper, we investigate joint cooperation diversity and symbol mapping diversity strategies for cooperative communication systems that employ nonbinary linear modulations such as phase-shift keying (PSK) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM). Substantial symbol error rate gains results from designing different symbol mappings for each packet ...

Opportunistic Source/Destination Cooperation in Cooperative Diversity Networks
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2010In this paper, we combine opportunistic transmission and source/destination cooperation in a decode-and-forward (DF)-based two-hop cooperative diversity network consisting of multiple source-destination pairs and a single relay. Firstly, we consider a special scenario with two source-destination pairs.

Capacity bounds for Cooperative diversity
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2006In a cooperative diversity network, users cooperate to transmit each others' messages; to some extent nodes therefore collectively act as an antenna array and create a virtual or distributed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. In this paper, upper and lower bounds for the information-theoretic capacity of four-node ad hoc networks with two ...

Diversity and multiplexing tradeoff bounds for cooperative diversity protocols
International Symposium onInformation Theory, 2004. ISIT 2004. Proceedings., 2004We consider a wireless network with multiple terminals (m/spl ges/2) as well as multiple receive antennas at the destination (N/spl ges/1) and obtain diversity multiplexing tradeoff upper bounds for some recently proposed cooperative diversity protocols.

An experimental framework for the evaluation of cooperative diversity
2009 43rd Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems, 2009Cooperative diversity is the result of relaying among nodes to achieve space diversity in multipath environments that offer limited time and frequency diversity. Although there is now substantial literature covering specification and analysis of cooperative communication strategies based upon models of wireless environments, there is much less work ...

Multiple Source Cooperation Diversity
IEEE Communications Letters, 2004We propose a new class of cooperative diversity schemes based on joint coding of the data of multiple wireless users. These schemes can achieve high diversity orders and high code rates.

Wireless Network Coding with Cooperative Diversity
Wireless Personal Communications, 2010In this paper we integrate the ideas of network coding and relays into an existing practical network architecture used in a wireless network scenario. Specifically, we use the COPE architecture to test our ideas. Since previous works have focused on the communication aspect at the physical layer level, we attempt to take it one step further by ...

Blind cooperative diversity with multiple relays
2008 3rd International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing, 2008Mobile users with single antennas can still take advantage of spatial diversity through cooperative space-time encoded transmission. In this paper, we consider a scheme in which a relay chooses to cooperate only if its source-relay channel is of an acceptable quality and we evaluate the usefulness of relaying when the source acts blindly and ignores ...
