State of the Art of Tactile Micro Coordinate Metrology
Micro parts are increasingly found in a number of industrial products. They often have complex geometrical features in the millimeter to micrometer range which are not accessible or difficult to measure by conventional coordinate measuring machines or by

Statistical point cloud model to investigate measurement uncertainty in coordinate metrology
In this work an approach to investigate measurement uncertainty in coordinate metrology is presented, based on fitting Gaussian random fields to high-density point clouds produced by measurement repeats.

Surface-Sensing Principle of Microprobe System for Micro-Scale Coordinate Metrology: A Review
Micro-coordinate measuring machines (micro-CMMs) for measuring microcomponents require a probe system with a probe tip diameter of several tens to several hundreds of micrometers.

Smart optical coordinate and surface metrology
Abstract Manufacturing has recently experienced increased adoption of optimised and fast solutions for checking product quality during fabrication, allowing for manufacturing times and costs to be significantly reduced. Due to the integration of machine learning algorithms, advanced sensors and faster processing systems, smart ...

Uncertainty associated with form assessment in coordinate metrology [PDF]
In this paper, we describe techniques for evaluating the uncertainties associated with the assessment of form error, i.e., the departure from ideal geometry of a manufactured part, in coordinate metrology.

Probing System Characteristics in Coordinate Metrology [PDF]
This paper aims at studying the effect of the dynamic errors on surface measurements using three different types of touch trigger probes attached to a bridge-type-CMM. Unforeseeable dynamic root errors of a ductile touch trigger probing system have been characterized theoretically and experimentally as well.

Adaptive sampling for coordinate metrology
An iterative sampling process for dimensional measurement is presented. The strategy is based upon the use of surface normal measurement data to develop an interpolating curve between sample points. The interpolant is used to select subsequent measurement targets iteratively.

New development and distribution concepts for Education in Coordinate Metrology
A key enabler for innovation in manufacturing is the competent use of advanced measuring equipment. As reported [1, 2], operators with their decisions are frequently the most relevant error sources in Coordinate Metrology, especially when dealing with ...
