Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Coulombic inter-ligand repulsion effects on the Pt(II) coordination chemistry of oligocationic, ammonium-functionalized triarylphosphines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The Pt(II) coordination chemistry of oligocationic ammoniomethyl- and neutral aminomethyl-substituted triarylphosphines (L) is described. Complexes of the type PtX2(L)2 (X = Cl, I) have been isolated and characterized.

Nickel-catalysed retro-hydroamidocarbonylation of aliphatic amides to olefins

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Converting the normally highly stable amide bond into different functionalities is a challenging task. Here the authors report a nickel-catalysed retro-hydroamidocarbonylation procedure, allowing the conversion of aliphatic amides into alkenes across a ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Studies on novel coordination chemistry of main group elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The studies described are mainly concerned with phosphorus coordination chemistry, and coordination chemistry of main group elements with bulky electron-withdrawing ligand. They may be divided into three parts. Part 1.

Synthesis and structural characterisation of the lead–platinum sulfido aggregates [Pt₂(μ-S)₂(PPh₃)₄PbX₂] (X = Br, I); promotion of rare tetrahedral geometry for lead(II) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The reactions of [Pt₂(μ-S)₂(PPh₃)₄] with excess PbBr₂ or PbI₂ in methanolic suspension result in the formation of the neutral lead(II) halide adducts [Pt₂(μ-S)₂(PPh₃)₄PbX₂] (X = Br, I).

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Tunably strained metallacycles enable modular differentiation of aza-arene C–H bonds

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The precise activation of C–H bonds will eventually provide chemists with transformative methods to access complex molecular architectures. Current approaches to selective C–H activation relying on directing groups are effective for the generation of ...
