SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION OF A Zn(II) COORDINATION POLYMER BASED ON 4,4’-BIPYRIDINE AND ACETATO

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry, 2015
A novel Zn(II) coordination polymer, [Zn(bpy)(acetato)2]n (bpy = 4,4’-bipyridine), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The Zn(II) coordination polymer is triclinic, space group P-1 with a = 8.

Spectroscopic Investigation of Polysulfide Redox Evolution in Catholyte Solutions for Potassium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Potassium–sulfur batteries are investigated using UV–vis spectroscopy to track the evolution of potassium polysulfide species at elevated temperature. The study reveals sulfur radical anions as key intermediates and shows how solvent composition and cell design influence polysulfide stability, redox behavior, and cycling performance, providing insights

Self‐Adaptive Anhydrous Passivation Mitigates Open‐Circuit Voltage Loss in Pb‐Sn Mixed Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this report, a self‐adaptive anhydrous passivation strategy is introduced by incorporating trimellitic anhydride (TMAH) into the perovskite precursor. In situ hydrolysis of TMAH yields trimellitic acid (TMA); ‐C═O/‐COO− groups of TMAH/TMA form a chelate with undercoordinated Pb2+/Sn2+, regulate nucleation, promote (100) orientation, passivate ...

A First Cyclodextrin-Transition Metal Coordination Polymer

open access: yes
The synthesis, X-ray crystallographic structure, and water uptake measurements of the first coordination polymer made of a cyclodextrin and a transition metal ion (in this case, Cu) are shown.

Resolving the Cu(bdc) Conundrum: Identifying Non‐Porous Packing of Prototypical Coordination‐Network Thin Films Combining Advanced Diffraction Techniques and Computational Modelling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed Cu(bdc) forms prototypical MOF thin films for which a multitude of not fully satisfactory structural models have been suggested. Combining rotating grazing‐incidence diffraction and X‐ray reflectivity on two complementary samples with density‐functional theory, we first discard the previously suggested models and then identify a non ...

Long‐Range Coordination Environment Modulates Single‐Atom Local States and Systemic Impact on CO2 Photoconversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Terminal groups on Cu porphyrins modulate the electronic states of single‐atom Cu centers through a long‐range electronic effect, without altering the Cu coordination geometry. Meanwhile, a multi‐descriptor framework is established that incorporates porphyrin regulation, hybrid catalyst properties, and CO2 photoreduction capabilities.

Coordination Sphere Flexibility Leads to Elastic Deformation in a One-Dimensional Coordination Polymer Crystal

open access: yes
Coordination polymers exhibiting mechanical flexibility including elastic or plastic bending are rare. Here, we report an example of a mechanically flexible one-dimensional coordination polymer that shows elastic bending.

Nanoengineered Binetworks in Multifunctional Anionic Block Polymer Mesoblends for Improved Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoblends consist of a nanostructured polymer into which a second polymer is imbibed with a selective solvent. In this work, a solvent‐templatable pentablock terpolymer possessing a sulfonated midblock is modified with a hydrophilic polymer that is photocrosslinked in situ, yielding a hierarchical binetwork.
