Polymer adsorption on curved surface [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Lattice model of directed self avoiding walk is used to investigate adsorption properties of a semiflexible sequential copolymer chain on an impenetrable curved surface on a hexagonal lattice in two dimensions. Walks of the copolymer chains are directed in a direction away from the surface at a suitable value of monomer surface attraction, the ...

Harnessing Outer Space for Improved Electrocaloric Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel radiative heat sink/source‐integrated electrocaloric (R‐iEC) system combines the electrocaloric (EC) effect with a thermally conductive radiative cooler (TCRC) to address heat dissipation limitations in EC devices. Utilizing outer space as a heat sink, the system achieves up to 240 W m−2 of heat dissipation performance, making it highly ...

Anisotropic nanoparticle distribution in block copolymer model defects [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In this article, we study the thermodynamic behavior of anisotropic shape (rod and disk) nanoparticle within the block copolymer matrix by using self-consistent field theory (SCFT) simulation. In particular, we introduce various defect structures of block copolymers to precisely control the location of anisotropic particles. Different from the previous

Switching From Acceptor to FRET Donor: How the Organic Solar Cell Architecture Can Change the Role of a Chromophore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The non‐fullerene acceptor o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV is used in both binary and ternary blends to investigate the role that it plays in each device architecture. The charge generation pathways are found to differ between the binary and ternary blends with o‐IDT‐BT‐DCV becoming a second donor in the ternary blend.

Self-Assembly and Applications of Amphiphilic Hybrid POSS Copolymers

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Understanding the mechanism of molecular self-assembly to form well-organized nanostructures is essential in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Particularly, amphiphilic copolymers incorporated with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSSs) have ...

Polymer Brush Growth by Surface‐Initiated Ring‐Opening Polymerization from a Cross‐Linked Polymer Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stable cross‐linked ultra‐thin polymer coating for surface‐initiated ring‐opening polymerization (SI‐ROP) of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane and ε‐caprolactone for growth of high grafting density poly(dimethyl siloxane) and poly(caprolactone) brushes is developed.

Influence of xylene on the dielectric response of an organoclay-containing nanocomposite

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2020
The dielectric effect, investigated using dielectric spectroscopy and DC dielectric breakdown strength measurements, of introducing xylene into a composite system containing polyethylene, a co-polymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate and an organoclay can ...

High‐Fidelity Directed Self‐Assembly Using Higher‐χ Polystyrene‐Block‐Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) Derivatives for Dislocation‐Free Sub‐10 nm Features

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The relationship between primary polymer structure and pattern quality in the directed self‐assembly of chemically modified polystyrene‐block‐poly(methyl methacrylate) derivatives is explored. The perpendicular lamellae are aligned, with a periodicity below 20 nm. No parallel orientations or dislocations form, and line patterns are well defined over an

Spacer Effects in Sulfo‐ and Sulfabetaine Polymers on Their Resistance against Proteins and Pathogenic Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
The resistance of zwitterionic polymer coatings against the adsorption of proteins and the attachment of pathogenic bacteria is influenced by the precise molecular architecture of the polymers.
