The Effect of Titanium Oxide Additions on the Phase Chemistry and Properties of Chromite-Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesCeramics, 2020
The microstructure of a direct-bonded chromite-magnesia refractory brick, typically used in copper and platinum converters, was modified by adding different amounts of nano-size TiO2 to the raw material mixture.

Studies on composite solid propellant with tri-modal ammonium perchlorate containing an ultrafine fraction

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2017
Composite solid propellant is prepared using tri-modal Ammonium perchlorate (AP) containing coarse, fine and ultrafine fractions of AP with average particle size (APS) 340, 40 and 5 μm respectively, in various compositions and their rheological ...

Comparative analyses of the infiltration of Al–Cr–O and Mg–Cr–O refractories by molten phases in the copper-making process using the sessile drop technique

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2020
The refractory used in the pyrometallurgical furnaces is periodically replaced because of wear. Refractory wear is determined by contact with the molten phases that interact with the refractory, in which chemical reactions are significant.

Mineral Resources Potential of Vietnam and Current State of Mining Activity

open access: yesApplied Environmental Research, 2014
Vietnam, with an area of 331,210 km2, occupies the eastern side of the Indochina peninsula. It forms a narrow (locally only 40-70 km) band of land, extending over 1,500 km along the East Sea (South China Sea). Vietnam is constituted mainly by the folded

Cu and Cu2In nanoparticles supported on amorphised zeolites for the selective reduction of biomass derived carboxylic acids to alcohols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Octanoic acid (OA) was used as reactant with medium chain length to model the aliphatic carboxylic acids which can be produced by catalytic, thermochemical or biological degradation of biomass. A flow through reactor was applied at 21 bar total pressure (

Production and Characterization of Magnesium‐Doped Copper Chromite Fibers

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), 2017
In this study, Mg‐doped CuCr1−xMgxO2 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05) fibers are synthesized via electrospinning process followed by a two‐step heat treatment in air and Ar atmospheres. The produced samples are all crystalline with a fiber diameter ranging from 120 to 140 nm.

Mineral reconnaissance at the Highland boundary with special reference to the Loch Lomond and Aberfoyle areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Serpentinite bodies at the Highland Boundary in the Loch Lomond and Aberfoyle areas are extensively altered to magnesite-quartz and ferroan-dolomite-quartz rocks. Silicification was probably initiated before conversion to carbonate.

High performance ammonium nitrate propellant [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A high performance propellant having greatly reduced hydrogen chloride emission is presented. It is comprised of: (1) a minor amount of hydrocarbon binder (10-15%), (2) at least 85% solids including ammonium nitrate as the primary oxidizer (about 40% to ...
