Bismuth-nickel mineralization in chromitites of Mariinskii deposit (Urals emerald mines)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2018
The unusual Bi-Ni mineralization, represented by parkerite, millerite, bismutohauchecornite, bismuthinite, nickeline and, possibly nickel analogue of smythite (?), found in the metasomatically altered chromite rocks of the Mariinsky emerald-beryllium ...

The Structure of Spinels: A Quantitative Assessment of the AB2X4 Family

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Compounds with the general formula AB2X4 crystallize with the atomic structure of the mineral spinel, MgAl2O4, described by three degrees of freedom: lattice parameter a, anion parameter u, and cation inversion parameter λ. Here, bond valence sum validation of 1244 ambient structures (338 compositions, 1915–2025) from the Inorganic Crystal ...

Mineralogy, mineral chemistry, and redox equilibria in ten aggregate particles from asteroid Bennu

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 8, Page 1905-1927, August 2026.
Abstract Examination of 10 Bennu aggregate particles has revealed the presence of many phases which taken together can provide constraints on the oxygen fugacity (fO2) of Bennu samples. Phyllosilicates (saponite and serpentine), carbonates, oxides (magnetite, chromite), sulfides (pyrrhotite, pentlandite), phosphate (hydroxyapatite, Na‐Mg‐phosphate ...

Solid propellant burn rate characterization: Effect of copper chromite blend with oxidiser and its storage

open access: yesFirePhysChem
This work details the study conducted on composite solid propellants with activated copper chromite (ACR) as burn catalyst for its burn rate change with time due to the interaction of ammonium perchlorate (AP) with ACR.

Potassium isotopic compositions and exposure ages of evolved and silica‐rich achondrites

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 8, Page 2140-2162, August 2026.
Abstract Some of the oldest igneous rocks in the Solar System include evolved and silica‐rich achondrites that originate from parent bodies less than 1000 km in diameter, referred to as planetesimals. While Earth was initially in a molten state and required continental crust formation and plate tectonics to generate andesite bulk compositions, evolved ...

Natural Resources and Political Patronage in Africa: An Ethnicity Level Analysis

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, Volume 30, Issue 3, Page 1957-1972, August 2026.
ABSTRACT We investigate the effect of resource discoveries on ethnicity‐level political patronage in Africa using a large geospatial dataset of 254 ethnic groups in 15 countries over the period 1960–2004. We find that the first (or single first) resource discovery in a virgin ethnic homeland increases the share of cabinet posts of that ethnicity.

Experimental Phase Equilibria Study and Thermodynamic Modeling of the Na2O–SnO–SnO2–SiO2 System

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Integrated experimental and thermodynamic modeling study of the phase equilibria in the Na2O–SnO–SnO2–SiO2 system in air and in equilibrium with liquid metal has been undertaken for characterizing the thermochemistry of slag in smelting side streams enriched in Sn and optimizing the fuming process. New experimental phase equilibria data at 800°

Optimization of Synergistic Reduction of Copper Smelting Slag and Chromite for Production of Cu-Cr-Fe Master Alloys

open access: yesMetals
Cu and Cr are the essential alloying elements for low-Ni stainless steels. An effective and economical method has been developed for the direct production of Cu-Cr-Fe master alloys through the synergistic reduction of chromite and copper smelting slag ...

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 10, 20 May 2026.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...
