A capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using a new monoclonal antibody (mAb MM3) is reported for the detection of Fasciola hepatica excretory-secretory antigens (ESAs) in feces of infected hosts. The mAb MM3 was produced by immunization of mice with a 7- to 40-kDa purified and O-deglycosylated fraction of F.

Fasciolosis due to infection with Fasciola hepatica, Fasciola gigantica or their hybrids is a significant global cause of livestock production loss. Infection is commonly diagnosed by a labour-intensive sedimentation and faecal egg count (FEC), which has limited throughput and is only applicable after completion of the 8-12 week pre-patent period (PPP).

During an experimental infection of sheep with Fasciola hepatica or F. gigantica, MM3-SERO and MM3-COPRO ELISA tests were applied to compare the kinetics of antibody production and coproantigen release between the 2nd and 32nd week post-infection (wpi).

Two monoclonal antibodies to Fasciola gigantica excretory/secretory (ES) antigens were used in a sandwich ELISA for the detection of Fasciola antigens in faeces of 9 sheep experimentally infected with 300 metacercariae of F. gigantica. The detection of coproantigens was found in four of the seven sheep within 5 weeks of infection, and within 7 weeks of

To obtain information about the prevalence of Cryptosporidium parvum in cattle in Oyo State, Nigeria, a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit made from Cryptosporidium-specificantibodies raised against antigens of Cryptosporidium parvum was used to screen 406 randomly collected fecal samples from cattle in four White ...

In order to overcome the false negative diagnosis of strongyloidiasis in the absence of rhabditiform larvae in stools, an ELISA-based Strongyloides stercoralis-specific coproantigen detection assay in stools of infected patients was evaluated. In a sandwich ELISA, a rabbit hyperimmune serum against S.

Faecal samples of 270 dogs and 100 cats from 3 animal shelters in Germany were comparatively examined using conventional coproscopical methods and commercial coproantigen ELISA kits for the detection of Giardia and Cryptosporidium infections. Giardia cysts were found in 9.5% and 0% of the faecal samples in dogs and cats, respectively, examined once ...
