Diagnosis of feline whipworm infection using a coproantigen ELISA and the prevalence in feral cats in southern Florida

open access: yesVeterinary Parasitology: Regional Studies and Reports, 2018
Trichuris felis, the whipworm of cats, is a relatively rare parasite, although more common in tropical and sub-tropical regions such as the Caribbean and South America. In southern Florida, T. felis is known to occur, but estimating prevalence can be challenging using fecal egg counts due to low intensity and single sex infections.

Bayesian modelling to estimate the test characteristics of coprology, coproantigen ELISA and a novel real‐time PCR for the diagnosis of taeniasis [PDF]

open access: yesTropical Medicine & International Health, 2013
AbstractObjectiveTo estimate and compare the performances of coprology, copro‐Ag ELISA and real‐time polymerase chain reaction assay (copro‐PCR) for detection of Taenia solium tapeworm carriers.MethodsThe three diagnostic tests were applied on 817 stool samples collected in two Zambian communities where taeniasis is endemic.
