Dried rhizomes of Coptis species are utilized as “Coptidis Rhizoma” (CR), an important herbal medicinal material in traditional Chinese medicine. Almost all CRs traded in the Korean herbal medicine market originate from Coptis chinensis (“Chun Hwang-Lyun” in Korean medical terminology).
