Fungi of Delhi. XXXIV. Zygorhynchus japonicus, a new record from India and its hyperparasite

open access: yesActa Mycologica, 2014
Zygorhynchus japonicus was isolated from decaing leaves of Corchorus olitorius. This is a new record from India and a second report after its isolation. Aspergillus flavus was observed to parasitize it quite frequently and distinctly.

Descriptors for jute (Corchorus olitorius L.)

open access: yesGenetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 2016
Detailed information about genetic differences among individuals or groups of accessions can be helpful for management and utilization of germplasm collections. So, descriptor assist scientists to improve their capacity to describe, store, manage and share information about plant resources, whether stored in genebanks or growing in natural environments.

Antitumor Promoters in Leaves of Jute (Corchorus capsularis and Corchorus olitorius).

open access: yesFood Science and Technology Research, 2002
Two antitumor promoters against tumor promoter-induced Epstein-Barr virus activation were isolated from the leaves of jute (Corchorus capsularis L.). The antitumor-promoting activity was examined by an immunoblotting analysis. Their active components were identified as phytol (3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol) and monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (1 ...

Commodity risk assessment of Petunia spp. and Calibrachoa spp. unrooted cuttings from Uganda

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to evaluate the likelihood of pest freedom at entry in the EU, including both regulated and non‐regulated pests, potentially associated with unrooted cuttings of the genera Petunia and Calibrachoa produced under physical isolation in Uganda.

Selenium Biofortification of Solanum Vegetables Modulates Their Phytoconstituents, Agronomic and Antioxidant Properties

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, Volume 1, Issue 4, Page 425-436, December 2025.
Selenium biofortification increases Se concentration in the leaves of the African eggplant and black nightshade leaves. This leads to an alteration in mineral composition in these leaves. ABSTRACT Selenium biofortification of food crops is a method of ameliorating selenium deficiency in a population.

Indigenous Nigerian Vegetables Harbour Plant Species‐Specific Seed Microbial Signatures for Bacteria and Fungi

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction The seed microbiome is essential for plant health, development, and adaptation. Little is known regarding the constituents of seed microbiomes of Africa's indigenous vegetables, which enables the vertical transmission of a specific microbial heritage. Shedding light on this was the focus of the current study.
