Climate Change Predicted to Trigger an Upward Altitudinal Range Shift and Boost the Abundance of a Montane Rock Face Specialist, the Wallcreeper (Tichodroma muraria)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
The distributional range of the Wallcreeper in Switzerland is predicted to greatly expand with global warming, primarily due to expansion of suitable conditions during the winter. ABSTRACT Montane species are predicted to respond to climate change by moving upslope, particularly high elevation specialists with thermal niches adapted to cold ...

Assessing Multidomain Overlaps and Grand Ensemble Generation in CORDEX Regional Projections

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2020
The Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX) initiative has made available an enormous amount of regional climate projections in different domains worldwide. This information is crucial for the development of adaptation strategies and

Modelling Climate Change Effects on Groundwater Recharge and Temperature for a Pre‐Alpine Lysimeter

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Climate change is projected to increase winter groundwater recharge and extreme precipitation events in pre‐alpine regions. Groundwater temperatures will rise by up to 26%, primarily driven by air temperature. These trends pose challenges for future water availability and quality, requiring adaptive water resource management.

Sensitivity of Large‐Scale Hydrological Predictions to Precipitation Phase Partitioning Methods Under a Changing Climate

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Future warming shifts precipitation from snow to rain across the Saskatchewan River Basin, reducing snow water equivalent and advancing snowmelt timing. Differences among precipitation phase‐partitioning methods propagate from snowpack accumulation to runoff magnitude and timing, producing earlier spring flows and higher peak discharge.

Impact of groundwater representation on heat events in regional climate simulations over Europe [PDF]

open access: yesEarth System Dynamics
The representation of groundwater is simplified in most regional climate models (RCMs), potentially leading to biases in the simulations. This study introduces a unique dataset from the regional Terrestrial Systems Modelling Platform (TSMP) driven by the

CORDEX experiment design for dynamical downscaling of CMIP6

open access: yes, 2021
The COordinated Regional climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX) was implemented under the auspices of the World Climate Research Program (WCRP) inorder to improve downscaling techniques and their use in understanding and assessing regional climate change and the provision of robust regional climateinformation for application in vulnerability, impacts,

Rainfall Onset Timing and Hydroclimatic Variability in a Tropical Catchment: Insights From Observations and Climate Projections

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Catchment‐scale onset trends show strong coastal‐forest climate contrasts. ENSO phases drive onset shifts with delays in El Niño and La Niña advances rains. CMIP6 SSPs project more intense 1‐day rainfall extremes and shorter wet spells. Integrated approach of bias correction and high‐resolution data improves rainfall onset projections.

The ICON‐ParFlow Coupling: Integrating a Continental‐Scale Hydrological Model Into a Global Atmospheric Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract In Earth system models, three‐dimensional prognostic subsurface hydrodynamics, including groundwater flow, are currently missing at the global scale. In order to prepare Earth system models for kilometer‐scale simulations with integrated continental hydrology, the ParFlow hydrological model has been coupled to the land model of the ICON ...

CORDEX-CMIP5 Archiving Specifications for Dynamical Downscaling

open access: yes, 2020
This document specifies technical aspects of CORDEX archive file and data formats, as well as archive content. It includes a common naming system, the Data Reference Syntax (DRS), which allows the identification of data sets wherever they might be located in a distributed CORDEX archive.
